Roomee is a tool for discovery — your safety still comes down to good judgment, clear boundaries, and careful verification.
Before you meet
- Keep early chats on-platform when possible; avoid jumping to private apps with people you do not know.
- Ask practical questions: who lives there now, bills, visitors, pets, and move-in dates.
- Do a video walk-through before you travel across the island for a viewing.
At the viewing
- Meet in daylight when you can, and consider bringing a friend for the first visit.
- Confirm who actually lives there and who holds the lease or owns the property.
- Take photos of anything you agree on verbally (condition of the room, shared spaces).
Money and paperwork
- Never wire deposits to people you have not met or verified.
- Use written agreements for rent, deposits, and notice periods — even for informal shares.
- If something feels rushed or secretive, pause and reassess.
